    Amanda is lead therapist and owner of Pain Care Clinic, and author of Living Pain Free: Healing Chronic Pain with Myofascial Release.

    About Amanda Oswald

    Amanda is a leading myofascial release therapist in the UK and author of Living Pain Free: Healing Chronic Pain with Myofascial Release.

    A keen amateur sportswoman, Amanda played rugby for several years and then took up marathon running. It was her experience of recovery from a prolapsed disc and RSI that inspired Amanda to leave her stressful office job and retrain as a massage therapist.

    Amanda has a BTEC Professional Diploma in Advanced Clinical & Sports Massage and has completed extensive further advanced training in fascial techniques in the USA, UK and Europe, including:

    • Myofascial Release (John Barnes)
    • Craniosacral Therapy (Upledger Institute)
    • Visceral Manipulation (Jean Pierre Barral)
    • Fascial Techniques for the Pelvis and Pelvic Floor (Nancy Stewart)
    • Manual Therapy (The Centre for Professional Development in Osteopathy)

    Amanda is also a qualified cognitive hypnotherapist, using these additional skills to address the mind and emotional aspects of chronic pain. She is a regular attendee and speaker at international symposia and complementary therapy events. She is a member of the main professional bodies including The Royal Society of Medicine, the Fascia Research Society, the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), the Complementary Therapists Association (CThA), the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT), the Council for Soft Tissue Therapies, and the Association for Soft Tissue Therapists.

    Amanda is a qualified teacher. Having been instrumental in developing the highest-level UK Professional Diploma in Advanced Clinical & Sports Massage, she now runs fascia workshops for the public and for therapists in self-help for chronic pain.

    About Melanie Smith

    Melanie has a BTEC Professional Diploma in Advanced Clinical & Sports Massage and additional advanced training in deep tissue work, myofascial release and pregnancy massage.

    Before joining Pain Care Clinic, Melanie worked as a massage therapist in a sports centre, dealing with a range of sports injuries, and at RSI Clinics, specialising in massage therapy for work-related pain conditions. Melanie has been teaching advanced massage to other therapists since 2006, and has a special interest in massage therapy for digestive disorders. Melanie’s advanced training includes:

    About Jan Wolsey

    Jan is a myofascial release specialist and highly experienced massage therapist and teacher.

    Jan discovered myofascial release through her work as an Equine Sports Therapist, working with both horses and riders.

    Following her passion for holistic therapies Jan has worked with both opera singers at Glyndebourne and bands at Wembley. She travels regularly to India to study Ayurvedic therapy.
